I couldn’t be happier with the results of the Namkha course I took with Anna. Anna did a fantastic job making the process and information clear, digestible and stress free for a complete beginner like me. She provided multiple support materials, guidance and schematics, and videos before and after each lesson. Anna has the perfect balance of attention to detail, creativity, and intuition!!!

She did a great deal of preparation for the class. I cannot imagine the hours of work she spent on the project behind the scenes calculating, drawing, and recording, along with hand picking, cutting, and carving individual sticks from the forest. I was so delighted to receive my kit with the forest sticks and yarn.

However, rest assured that it won’t be easy. It’s a serious practice.

I felt that I weaved not just the yarn, but my energy and each element thread by thread, embracing difficulties and obstacles together with the work. The best thing is that it is pure magic. Many interesting and unpredictable experiences happened during the process, where we needed to improvise. Anna showed 100% support, patience and kindness. I was very happy with my Namkha. It turned out to be so rustic, vibrant and authentic, just like they used to make them thousands of years ago in Bon tradition.

10/10, would recommend this course. You won’t be disappointed.

Anna’s Namkha course is that very rare and sought-after thing in education: a real one-on-one, practical tutorial with the aim of helping the student toward making their own namkha. This is not an easy process, but you couldn’t ask for more a better teacher and program to get you from knowing absolutely nothing to having your own first namkha completed.

Most of the essential materials arrive by mail, including the pre-measured and notched armature sticks, and the narrow-gauge yarn that will make your experience go much more smoothly. The student gathers a few other, commonly available materials such as rasps, scissors, and a ruler. Then you arrange with Anna to schedule the 3-hour, personal sessions on Zoom. It takes about four or five sessions to complete the namkha, and Anna is very helpful with scheduling them whenever the student is available

The Namkha represents the flow of karmic energy in space, and the karma you will be working with is your own. Almost immediately, I found myself face-to-face with my own impatience, lack of attention to detail, impulsiveness, and doubt that I could ever accomplish making such a thing. The course is certainly about making a namkha, outwardly. Inwardly, however, it’s about showing you your mental obscurations. The process requires constant attention and clarity of mind, a relentless alacrity to undo one’s mistakes and get it right, and a continual patience with oneself and the process. Thankfully, you could hardly find a better teacher than Anna anywhere, as her exacting insistence on not one thread being out of place combined with her seemingly limitless patience for the student to fall and get back up as many times as it takes, lead inexorably toward the goal of crafting a namkha.

The result is beautiful; namkhas have a certain rustic dignity that is immediately appealing, but the real reward is in the process, how it shows you precisely where all the misplaced threads in your own thinking are, and how you can overcome them by dint of unrelenting persistence and care.
I would recommend Anna’s namkha course to anyone who desires to make a namkha, of course, but I would also recommend it to Dharma practitioners who feel their meditation or learning practice has grown stale or reached an impasse that they intuit would be confronted by sustained action and attention.

I had 2 days one on one streaming session with Anna and all doubts were clearedNow my execution is truly precise and quick.

I am not guessing anymore, I am freed of the paranoia that everything has to be millimetre perfect, otherwise i will mess up the effect of the namkha.

I myself work with straight square sticks. With the materials i received I could appreciate the feel of a ~shamanic looking~ namkha, looking all wobbly, rugged and still harmonic and with a feel different from mines, looked real cool and when I can I will do more that way.

I think the real value in the course is the ability to be working while Anna herself is in her routine preparing a namkha for someone.

Anna made me remember something to keep in mind for when we make a namkha (or any other practice), as many teachers told me in the years, having a hard time or making mistakes when you are really trying is not something to be ashamed of or feel bad about, it is just the natural effect of the function of the practice that deals with obstacles causing them to manifest, as mistakes, confusion, feeling bad and so on.

It was fun we spoke told stories and at times were so into it we did not say a word for a very long time.

I recommend to extensively prepare yourself with her video course, and make experience with one namkha at least before the course.  You will reap much more benefit that way.

In short, if you like to do handy work,  and you want to make namkhas as a practice to help people you know but you cannot help otherwise, (if you do not give up easily is a plus) study with Anna!

Price

The price of the course is 350 USD.

Why this price?

  1. On-line teaching is more difficult that the on-site one. Once needs to prepare a lot of additional materials – PDF’s, videos, guides. That took a decent amount of time.
  2. The price includes delivery fee and the cost of a materials kit you receive for the course.
  3. The journey of transformation happening with constructing a Namkha is difficult. Not only for a student, but also for a tutor. I need to have 2-3 days rest after every individual course.
  4. I pay maximum attention and make the experience as smooth and non-stressful as possible. This takes huge amount of energy
  5. I paid for my Namkha course 250 USD. It was 6 years ago, the course wasn’t individual & it was held on-site.

That’s why I put this price. On-line teaching requires high skills and a lot of preparation. As well as resilience to support the student during their journey.
